Many researches have connected vitamin D deficiency to negative health outcomes, including those that go beyond bone health, in both children and pregnant women. Reports of high incidence of nutritional rickets continue to progress. With adequate vitamin D and calcium supplementation, nutritional rickets is a completely avoidable illness that may be eradicated in infants and children around the world. In order to execute workable prevention measures for vitamin D insufficiency and nutritional rickets, a comprehensive, multi-level approach is required. The history, danger signs, and debates around vitamin D insufficiency during pregnancy and children are highlighted in this overview
